Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali said two parties are continuously ruling in the country and both have made some mistakes in their tenure.

Hearing the case regarding show of hands voting for mayor and deputy mayor elections, Chief Justice said in his remarks that courts are being criticised for not taking somoto notice of case. Courts have other responsibilities and boundaries, he added.

During the hearing, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) advocate said that for free and fair elections, it is necessary that they are conducted by show of hands method.

On this CJ stated, “if we accept your suggestions, census is also important for free and fair elections which was scheduled to for 2008 but still it is not done.”

There is a big margin of reforms in election process and conducting free, fair and transparent election is the duty of Election commission, he said.
