Institution of ombudsman plays vital role in dispensation of justice: President

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the institution of ombudsman was playing vital role in dispensation of justice to people.

He was addressing a ceremony in connection with inauguration of regional offices of Federal Insurance Ombudsman in Islamabad today. The President said the successful experience of formation of federal ombudsman has led to creation of special ombudsmen offices on tax, insurance and banking.

He said dispensation of justice is the basic component of Islam and it is our responsibility to ensure speedy and inexpensive justice to the people. He said the establishment of regional offices of the Insurance Ombudsman will help the people easily access the institution and get their complaints redressed.

He called for expanding ombudsman network to other major cities including Quetta so that maximum people could benefit from it. Addressing the participants of 104th National Management Course of the National School of Public Policy in Islamabad, President Mamnoon Hussain said all national institutions are on the same page and there is no threat to country’s democratic system.

The President said democracy will flourish in Pakistan and the country will continue to prosper as all institutions are working within their ambit and no problems will occur if they concentrate on their own work. He said terrorism and corruption are damaging the national economy and social structure of the country and nation needs to work with full enthusiasm to solve such problems.

Mamnoon Hussain said the government’s efforts to eliminate terrorism is producing positive results and conditions in all parts of the country including Karachi and Balochistan have been significantly improved. The President said the goal to make a secure and developed nation in future is only possible if public servants work responsibly in accordance with the law and should refrain from following illegal orders given on any and all levels.
