Tokyo shares drop by break as yen’s rise dents exporters

TOKYO: Tokyo’s benchmark index fell Thursday morning as the yen’s rally dented exporters, extending its longest losing streak in more than three years.

The Nikkei 225 at the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 0.25 percent, or 39.40 points, to 15,675.96 by the break, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.19 percent, or 2.36 points, to 1,265.39.
