Hong Kong stocks end higher on late buying, Shanghai dives

HONG KONG: Hong Kong ended slightly higher on late buying Tuesday but Shanghai tumbled more than one percent ahead of a keenly awaited speech by US Federal Reserve chief Janet Yellen later in the day.

The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong closed up 0.10 percent, or 20.69 points, at 20,366.30. And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.28 percent, or 37.99 points, to 2,919.83 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, dropped 1.82 percent, or 34.15 points, to 1,840.51.
