Lahore blasts: PM cancels US visit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday cancelled United States visit in connection with the Lahore blasts that left 72 people dead.   

According to the sources Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi will represent Pakistan in the Nuclear Security Summit.

The PM Nawaz Sharif will have to leave for US to attend the fourth and final Nuclear Security Summit in Washington on Thursday.

The summit will discuss the evolving threats and highlight steps to minimize the use of highly-enriched uranium.

Pakistan is one of the 53 states, besides four international observers – the United Nations, the International Atomic Energy Agency, Interpol and the European Union -invited to be part of the NSS process.
