Tokyo stocks drop by break as investors eye Fed meeting

TOKYO: Tokyo stocks slipped Wednesday morning as investors focus on a Federal Reserve meeting, after Japanese policymakers held off unleashing more stimulus despite a downturn in the economy.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 0.38 percent, or 65.70 points, to 17,051.37 by the break.

The broader Topix index of all first-section shares was down 0.36 percent, or 5.00 points, at 1,367.08.
