Karachi law and order case: SC dissatisfies over police report

Supreme Court has showed dissatisfaction over police report on Karachi law and order case and said in 2015, about 159 were target killed and not a single killer arrested yet.

A five-judge SC bench comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain take up the suo moto action taken by ex-CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry over the poor law and order situation in the country’s economic hub Karachi.

During the hearing Karachi law and order case Chief Justice asked police how many challans were presented so far. Its government duty to present a challans and run cases in the court instead of just presenting figures.

Advocates of D.G. Rangers, I.G. Sindh as well as other administrators were also present in the court during the hearing.

Police in the start of hearing presented a report over law and order situation in Karachi in which IG Sindh stated that the law and order situation in the mega city in under control.

The court in its remarks stated that under the lights of report, complete peace in Pakistan’s biggest city has been restored. In 2015, about 159 were target killed and not a single killer arrested yet, the court said in its remarks.

IG Sindh Ghulam haider Jamali told the court that Karachi operation is a team work and other institutions also played a vital role in it. On this statement the court said in its remarks that Karachi’s peace restored because of Rangers.

The court also asked why proclaimed offenders were not arrested yet?
