LAHORE: Joint Investigation Team (JIT) released its report declaring all high-ups including Prime Minister, Chief Minister Punjab and former provincial law minister in Model Town incident.
Superintendent Police (SP) Security Salman Khan and 10 police officials including Station House Officer (SHO) Amir Saleem, constables and elite force officials were accused in the case, report said. However, arrests of the accused persons were still due.
The report stated that police officials deployed in Model Town were not in contact with CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and former provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah on the day of Model Town incident.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers up to 2,000-3,000 started stoning and hurled petrol bombs while same response was given by police officials deployed on the location. The report clearly said that violent activities were carried out from both parties on the day.
It should be mentioned here that At least 14 workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) were killed and more than 80 suffered bullet wounds in a clash with law enforcement personnel outside Dr Tahirul Qadri’s residence in Model Town on June 17, 2014.
