LAHORE: The boom Boom Shahid Afridi, skipper of Pakistan’s T20 squad has lauded courage of visiting Zimbabwe team as the African team have arrived in country where an attack six years ago blocked international cricket.
The Pakistan skipper in short-format cricket expressed his jubilation over coming of Zimbabwe team in the country and said “It is like the spring of cricket after six years of autumn.”
He said that Zimbabwe team deserved praise for their courage and taking daring stance of visiting Pakistan adding that the guest team also made Pakistanis fans happy.
Zimbabwe are the first Test team to tour Pakistan since militants attacked the Sri Lankan team bus in March 2009, killing eight people and leading to the suspension of all international cricket in the country.
ODI captain Azhar Ali, who made his debut in 2010 and has never played at home, added it was a dream come true for players like himself.
Ali also expressed his happiness over Zimbabwe visit “It will be a special day for player like me who have not played before their home crowds and don’t know the taste of playing on our grounds.”
