MULTAN: State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said on Monday that government was striving to end energy crisis in the country.
Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of 132 KV Grid Station here at Maankot, he said that 9000 megawatt to 10,000 megawatt electricity would be added to the national grid by the start of 2018.
He said Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz would again emerge as ruling party in the next election. He said that the party was ensuring development in all sectors including work on economic corridor, motorways, electricity, gas schemes and Metro bus projects.
He said that Extension of Tarbela-4 has been completed at a cost of 900 million dollars while 120 million dollars have been saved by adopting best strategy. He added that the amount had been utilized on Tarbela-5.
Abid Sher Ali said that work on Thar Coal project was also heading forward. He informed that line losses had been decreased by 1.6 percent during the last year and it saved Rs 23 billion.
The government is also focusing on bringing improvement in transmission and distribution system.
Recovery percentage has also been improved and reached to 93 percent which helped generate further Rs 33 billion revenue during the last year. He said that consumers were also provided a relief of Rs 85 billion under fuel price adjustment.
He also announced one bonus equal to basic salary for employees who worked at Maankot Grid.
Chief Executive MEPCO Engineer Fazalullah Durrani and other officers were also present on the occasion.
