ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended 1245 proclaimed offenders wanted in different cases including human trafficking during 2015.
The Agency, as per direction of Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had launched a campaign against proclaimed offenders and made 911 such arrests during 2014.
At a meeting chaired by Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, FIA briefed about its drive against human smugglers, future strategy and mega corruption cases.
Regarding future strategy on arrest of proclaimed offenders, FIA would prepare a central data bank of such accused which would be made available in all offices of the Agency across the country.
It was further directed that this record should also be shared by intelligence agencies and passports of proclaimed offenders should be cancelled while their identity cards should be blocked.
The FIA has also put names of all proclaimed offenders on exit control list and special teams have been formed with specific target to arrest these outlaws.
It was informed that during 2014-2015, FIA recovered a total of Rs 14.6 billion while in 2013 Rs 1.6 billion, in 2012 Rs. 210 million and in 2011 a total of Rs 200 million were recovered.
Ch. Nisar had clear directions to make laws more effective to prevent heinous business of human smuggling and bring to justice those who were involved.
FIA was effectively pursuing these cases so that those who were exploiting humans and damaging name of the country could get punishment.
