PTI president from Gilgit-Baltistan resigns, joins ruling PML-N

GILGIT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president from Gilgit Baltistan Abdul Latif on Monday (today) resigned from the party and joined ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The PTI president has announced his decision to join the PML-N in a press conference.

It will be blow to the PTI as general elections for the Gilgi-Baltistan Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held on June 8 and just almost three weeks before the PTI president announced his departure from the party.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly completed its five year tenure on December 10 last year, but a caretaker setup announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been governing the region since then.
