Two separate entities – Gmail and Whatsapp have joined One Billion monthly active users club, showing these two services are definitely the most popular ones around.
WhatsApp, the popular messaging application, and Gmail, the electronic email service were able to record a whopping one billion monthly active user tally.
As per details, WhatsApp had registered one billion installs on Play Store in March last year, meaning it converted those installs into a billion monthly active users in just a period of 11 months.
The messaging service had announced that it crossed the 900 million users mark during the month of September and it only took it five additional months to achieve the feat of adding more users to its servers.
Not long ago, WhatsApp also announced that it would stop charging users its annual $0.99 free for continuing to use the service, another factor that led to increased user base.
With the latest report suggesting that the service will be introducing a video calling option soon, more and more users will be added to its servers.
As for Gmail, the App for Android had hit one billion installs a little over a period of 20 months during May of 2014.
One can expect more features being implemented in these services in order to make them far better than they already are.
After all, one billion active users is nothing to scoff at and both the companies would not be resting on their laurels alone.
