TOKYO: Tokyo shares opened lower Tuesday, following a drop in oil prices and after a weak lead from financial markets in Europe and on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.83 percent, or 148.71 points, to 17,716.52 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.93 percent, or 13.66 points, to 1,449.01.
