ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Friday said the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Iran would bring peace in the region through resolving their mutual differences.

In a statement which issued here, the minister said that Pakistan was in a unique position to mediate between the two countries. The minister said that as far as the role of Pakistan was concerned in diffusing the tensions between the two regional powers of Middle East, it would be fair to say that we took the center stage for the unity of Ummah.

Tariq Fazal said that Pakistan was following a policy of promoting brotherhood among members of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC), adding that confrontation damages the larger interest of Muslim Ummah.

“Pakistan is deeply concerned at the recent escalation of tension between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The prime minister has called for resolution of differences through peaceful means, in the larger interest of Muslim unity, particularly during these challenging times,” added the minister.

He said that Pakistan enjoyed cordial and brotherly relations with both the countries, which were characterized by strong bonds of affinity, mutual respect and solidarity, and drew strength from shared historical, cultural and Islamic values.
