Nation to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on Feb 5

ISLAMABAD: Kashmir Solidarity Day would be observed on February 5 with the pledge to continue support for Kashmiri brothers and sisters’ rightful struggle against the illegal occupation.

February 5 is also observed with the objective of seeking the peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute, besides delivering a pragmatic message to the International community.

To review the arrangements regarding the 5th February, a meeting was held here on Tuesday at ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgt Baltistan.

Federal Secretary for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Abid Saeed was informed in the meeting that a comprehensive coverage plan of electronic and print media has been chalked out for the solidarity day.

The meeting was informed that Pakistan Television (PTV) and private channels will arrange documentaries, songs, poetry competitions and dramas for the 5th February.

The PTV would also arrange the live coverage of the joint session of AJK Parliament and AJK Council at Muzaffarabad. The Secretary Abid Saeed said that the circular has been issued to all chief secretaries of the provinces for holding seminars and other events to commemorate the solidarity day.

Banners and stickers regarding Kashmir day would also be displayed at airports, he added. The meeting was also informed that one minute silence would be observed for the martyrs of Kashmir struggle.
