Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif will visit Iran today (Tuesday) in an effort to defuse tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
He will have a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
Earlier, the Prime Minister and the Army Chief along with a delegation visited Saudi Arabia yesterday and met King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.
The Prime Minister expressed deep concern over recent escalation of tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
He called for resolution of differences through peaceful means in larger interest of Ummah, particularly during these challenging times.
The Prime Minister recalled Pakistan’s consistent policy of promoting brotherhood among member states of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation.
After conclusion of the visit to Iran, the prime minister will visit Zurich, Switzerland to represent Pakistan at the World Economic Forum at Davos.
