KARACHI: Sindh Assembly on Friday unanimously passed Sindh Criminal Prosecution Service (amendment) bill, enabling the provincial government to quash any subjudice case.

The bill titled “The Sindh Criminal Prosecution Service (Constitution, Functions and Powers) (Amendment) Bill, 2015” amid opposition outcry and protest.

Under the bill, the provincial government can withdraw any case with a binding for prosecutor general to submit its report to the court. This has been mandatory to seek court’s approval for quashing a case.
