ANP central leader Azam Hoti passes away at 69

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) senior leader Azam Khan Hoti, 69, passed away on Wednesday morning in Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The party sources said that he had been suffering from throat cancer for very long time. He was father of former chief minister Ameer Haider  Hoti and uncle of present chief of the ANP Asfandyar Wali Khan.

Senator Hoti was elected a Member of National Assembly (MNA) twice and served as federal minister for communication during both previous tenures of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He was elected a senator on an ANP ticket in 2012, and previously in 1993. Funeral prayers of the late leader will be held at his home town in Mardan  in evening.
