Children death toll in Thar rises to 22

MITHI: Three more children died in Civil Hospital Mithi on Saturday, after an outbreak of water borne diseases which has claimed the lives of at least 22 children in the last 12 days.

Innocent children of Thar paying the price of the negligence of government authorities with their lives in the desert region of Sindh.

Malnutrition, lack of healthcare facilities and scarcity of water are some factors pushing the children towards death.

Two children died today in Mithi’s civil hospital rising the death toll of children to 22 in last 12 days. Moreover, three children have been transferred to Hyderabad in a precarious condition.

The two-members team is expected to visit the affected region today and submit a report to the PPP chairman.

According to media reports hospitals in Thar are facing a shortage of doctors, while around 215 dispensaries remain non-functional in the remote villages of Thar region.
