An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday granted exemption to former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in the judges’ detention case.
The ATC-II judge, Sohail Ikram, granted an exemption to the former president from personal appearance on January 8 (today) on the application of his counsel citing his client’s health issues.
Special Public Prosecutor Aamir Nadeem Tabish objected, stating that the exemptions were sought to delay the case.
In August 11, 2009, Musharraf detained over 60 judges, including then chief justice, after a state of emergency was declared on November 3, 2007.
The court accepted the exemption application and adjourned the case till January 22, 2016.
