LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq has exhorted the federal government to immediately convene an All Parties Conference (APC) to take the smaller provinces in confidence on the route of the ambitious China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Talking to various delegations which called on him at Mansoora on Monday, Sirajul Haq said that the deviations of the federal government’s promises on the CPEC route had made the mega project controversial.

He said that the US and India were hostile to an increase in China’s influence in the region and improvement in the economies of Pakistan and China through the CPEC project. The US would not like Pakistan to be free from the clutches of IMF, The World Bank and other Zionist financial institutions and stand on its own feet, he added.

Sirajul Haq urged Islamabad to take to the national leadership in confidence on this highly ambitious development project and sympathetically consider the objections from the provinces in order to remove these. He warned that slackness in this regard could be harmful and make the project controversial like the Kalabagh dam Project.
