LAHORE: Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Liaqat Baloch has said that politics of confrontation is not in favour of country, national security, National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism and the ongoing democratic process.
Addressing the JI political affairs committee at Mansoora on Tuesday, Liaqat Baloch stressed on the need of ending the lingering confrontation between the federation and the Sindh government and warned that any third party can take benefit of the situation. He said that all institutions of the state should remain within their limits and none should try to go beyond that.
He that Pak-India relations should be based on level playing field, a well-thought-out national policy and not on family/personal considerations, and added that the trend of ignoring the Parliament should come to an end. He said that a full-fledged Foreign Minister should be appointed to deal with foreign issues in a befitting manner.
Emphasizing the importance of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Project for national development, the JI central leader said the country could not afford any controversy on this project especially after the fate of the Kala Bagh Dam.
Liaqat Baloch said it was imperative to evolve consensus to achieve lasting peace in Balochistan. In this respect, he urged the Prime Minister to immediately convene an APC at Quetta to develop an atmosphere of political trust among all political parties and groups in the province.
