SA extends Rangers special powers with restrictions

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly on Wednesday approved the resolution to extend the Rangers special powers.

The resolution was tabled by the home minister Anwar Sial. According to the resolution, Rangers could not detain any suspect without permission of Sindh government. The new powers were given to Rangers for a period of 12 months.

 The resolution bound Rangers to take permission from Sindh government before any raid at public office or detention.

On the other hand opposition torn copies of the resolution, chanted slogans against the provincial government and walked out to mark their protest over the restrictions on Rangers powers.
