Worst traffic jam occurs in Karachi

Karachiites witnessed worst traffic jam occurred in mainstream areas of the metropolis following protests and leakage of main water pipeline here on Saturday night.

Thousands of public and private vehicles stuck on roads connecting M. A. Jinnah, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Quaidabad, University Road, Nipa round about, Saddar following protest of farmers demonstrating outrage against Sindh government regarding prices of sugarcane infront of Sindh Assembly in Karachi.

The peaceful protest was turned into battle when police charged batons on the protesters. Angered protesters later lodged sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly’s building which blocked the main road to Arts Council en route the Supreme Court building.

On the other hand, relatives of a citizen, who was reportedly killed in alleged police encounter, lodged sit-in along with the dead body at Drig Road situated at Shahrah-e-Faisal.

Moreover, leakage of 84-inch diameter water pipeline sunk nearby areas and hundreds of vehicles into water at Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Block 10 area which also choked traffic flow on different roads.
