Khawaja Asif holds meeting with German counterpart

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday held meeting with his German counterpart Ursula Von der Leyen where they exchanged view of regional situation and Afghanistan reconciliation process.

German Defence Minister while conducted joint press conference with Khawaja Muhammad Asif praised efforts of Pakistan for playing vital role to maintain stability across the region. She expressed deep sorrow over horrific terror attack on Army Public School (APS). She clarified that Germany will play its role for stability in Afghanistan.

The German high-up said that there were no evidences to prove regarding existence of Islamic State (IS) in Pakistan.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the dialogues with German counterpart was positive which focused Middle East situation, Islamic State (IS) and deteriorated condition of Syrian refugees. He added that matters relating to Afghan refugees also come into discussion during the meeting.

Asif said that both countries made agreement to enhance coordination in defence sector. He said that Pakistan is purchasing modern weaponry by Germany for ongoing war against terrorism.
