It is pertinent to mention here that an Anti Terrorist Court in Karachi had awarded him death sentence in killing of three persons including then Managing Director (MD) KESC Shahid Hamid, his driver and his guard in July 1997.

After government ended moratorium on death penalty in December last year in wake of deadly attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School his black warrants were issued for March 19. Just hours before his  execution his confessional video had aired on local news TV channels in which he alleged startling accusation on MQM leadership including the party chief Altaf Hussain.

He said that he had murdered the MD KESC on the orders of party head which was delivered to him by Baber Ghouri.

The Interior Minister had formed Joint Investigation Team to probe his allegations and later the JIT after completing through probe submitted his report to interior ministry.

Mirza’s wife Nighat Mirza had also filed petition in Sindh High Court to reopen the Shahid Hamid murder case and deferment of his husband punishment for the case but the SHC rejected her petition on reason that Supreme Court decision can not be changed by the SHC.
