NA-125 case: Court declares Saad’s petition against tribunal ineffective

LAHORE: Supreme Court (SC) Lahore Registry on Monday declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique’s patition against election tribunal’s interim order as ‘ineffective’.

Lahore registry hearing NA-125 case was conducted by a two-member bench headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.

The railway minister Saad Rafique adopted the stance that the tribunal did not issued orders regarding NA-125 verification of thumbprints under the law as the directions to re-open the record of some polling stations have been given only to benefit one party.

The minister requested the court to declare the investigation orders of the tribunal as null and void.

The judge remarked that as the final verdict of the tribunal has been announced therefore; the decision on the appeal will be taken by the Supreme Court.

Subsequently, the court discarded the petition while declaring it as ‘ineffective’.
