Mushtaq Ahmed expresses concerns over fitness issues

DUBAI: Pakistan’s bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed has expressed concerns over cricketers fitness issues.

The legend spinner said that they would have to hold camps so as to maintain the players fitness.

He said that they all were responsible for lake in fielding and fitness issues. He blamed poor fielding and lack of fitness for his team’s Twenty20 series loss against England.

Mushtaq, a former leg-spinner, said modern cricket requires fitness and better fielding which Pakistan need to improve before upcoming World Twenty20 in India.

“The modern cricket and it s protocols have changed. We were sitting at number two in Twenty20 because we have skilled players but maybe we are lacking in fitness and fielding and if you analyse then it is a fitness game,” Mushtaq said and added, “The team management has to take responsibility. You have to face the reality that you have to raise your game and as coach we have to lift the performance.”
