Turkish forces shot down military jet over violating airspace

Turkish forces shot down a military jet over violating Turkey’s airspace near Syrian border on Tuesday.

Turkish TV reported that it is as yet unclear which country the plane belonged to. The fate of the crew is also unclear.

The pilots of the crashed jet managed to eject.

A Turkish military official told news agency the jet was warned before being targeted, adding that the nationality of the downed plane is as yet unclear.

The official added that the plane was shot down by Turkish F-16 fighter jets

The plane crashed in a village mostly populated by Syrian Turkmen. The place has been a hotspot between the opposition and the Syrian Army.
