COAS calls on US VP at White House

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has met US Vice President Joe Biden at White House, ISPR reported on Friday.

COAS in the meeting gave Pakistan’s perspective of security and stability in the region, which he emphasised and needs to be understood, Inter Service Public Relations said.

The Vice President appreciated  Pakistan’s contributions in war on terror.

Joe Biden said US wants to further the growing relationship with Pakistan.

Both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interests and regional security and stability in candid and cordial atmosphere, ISPR said.

Gen Raheel and US VP Biden stressed early resumption of recon process to achieve lasting peace in Afghanistan which is so critical to peace and stability in region.

ISPR said, Acknowledging Pakistan’s crucial role for peace, the VP recognised Pakistan’s immense sacrifices both in terms of human lives and economic losses.

Reiterated firm US commitment to work closely with Pakistan  in all areas of mutual interest, deepening and  expanding coop to counter new and emerging threats.
