PM reviews Maritime Exercise Sea Spark 2015

KARACHI: On the occasion of Fleet Review by Pakistan Navy today, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif witnessed the wide ranging naval maneuvers by an array of naval combat platforms in North Arabian Sea.

As the culminating event of Pakistan Navy’s major maritime exercise SEASPARK 2015, the event was aimed to showcase the combat readiness of Pakistan Navy. The Naval Forces demonstrated range of Naval Warfare Operations against traditional and on-traditional threats including Counter Terrorism and Anti-Piracy Drills, Live Weapons Firings and Fly past by Naval Aviation units.

Earlier on his arrival onboard Pakistan Navy Ship NASR, the Prime Minister was received by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah.

Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) gave a detailed briefing to Prime Minister on conduct of the exercise and Pakistan Navy’s salient contributions towards maritime sector, coastal development and Humanitarian Assistance operations. The Prime Minister reposed complete trust and confidence in the operational capabilities of Pakistan Navy and urged that the challenges at hand necessitate eternal vigilance to safeguard against external and internal threats.

The event was also graced by Chief Minister of Sindh, Federal Ministers and senior Navy, Army and Air Force officers.

Exercise SEASPARK 2015 afforded valuable opportunity to enhance combat readiness of Pakistan Navy and interoperability with PAF and Pak Army. Pakistan Navy remains a key player for the maintenance of regional maritime order which is crucial for the national as well as world’s economic stability.
