‘Kashmir resolution a prerequisite to peace in region’

LAHORE: Resolution of Kashmir issue is a prerequisite to establishment of peace in the region, said Hina Rabbani Khar in an interview.

Speaking in a TV talk show, Khar emphasized better relations with India so that a conductive environment to negotiations can be put in place. Replying to a question, Hina Rabbani Khar rejected that Kashmir issue has ever been put into ‘backburner’.

Khar said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) never got the intended support it needed to carry out an operation like Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Quoting an incident, she said that there was a time when Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) required parliamentary support from Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N). PPP never played politics on foreign issues, she said, adding that Gwadar port was handed over to China in the PPP tenure.

Talking about China-Pakistan relationship she said that China is an old friend and does not give particular support to any leader but rather to country of Pakistan in general.

She said that Salala incident was a major incident in the history of country and U.S. was made to apologise over it as well. Hina Rabbani Khar said that PPP offers an ideology unlike any other. She also praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and said that he is currently remaking structure of PPP.
