KARACHI: License-issuing branches of traffic police on Saturday were thronged by large number of locals with applications after crackdown delayed by at least three months.

The rush first led to mismanagement after the crackdown deadline expired in start of November. However, traffic police took action in the matter and extended working hours of desk officers. The authorities said that at least 15 mobile centres would be formed in different areas.

However, people can be seen waiting in queues to file their application for licenses everyday now. Flocks turn to Karachi’s Clifton, Nazimabad and Korangi branches early in the morning.

Traffic Police Additional Inspector General (IG) Khadim Hussain Bhatti said that crackdown would be launched after three months. It should be mentioned here that drivers with no driving licenses would be jailed after police will come in action.

Earlier, the police stated that the crackdown was postponed for 15 days while later on date was extended to a month.
