ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday announced Rs40 million grant to the earthquake affectees to pay their agricultural loan and said the cheques in this regard would be distributed in four days.
‘Relief goods should be dropped in inaccessible areas of district Kohistan by helicopters,’ he directed during a briefing in Dasu.
He directed to immediately provide tents, blankets, food items and medicines to the affected families.
He said heavy machinery should also be sent to Kohistan to open roads.
The Prime Minister was informed that twelve people were killed in Kohistan because of the earthquake. The quake also damaged houses and infrastructure.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak said deputy commissioner had the financial powers of the chief minister in such critical situation. He expressed displeasure over the performance of deputy commissioner Kohistan. Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid was also present on the occasion.
