PESHAWAR: National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) on Monday continued efforts to clear the road links which were blocked due to landslides in the areas jolted by an earthquake of 8.1 on Richter scale.
The NHA and FWO teams with heavy machinery rushed the quake hit areas to open the road links connecting the affected areas with rest of country so to ensure shifting of injured to hospitals and relief activities for the victims.
Karakurram Highway (KKH) and other link roads in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province were blocked due to landslides at several locations with have been cleared through joint efforts of NHA and FWO.
Injured from the far flung areas were being shifted to hospitals in big cities while sending of relief goods including food commodities to the quake affected areas continued under the supervision of the provincial government and non government organizations.
The people of earthquake affected areas of KP have lauded the quick action of NHA and FWO for clearing the blocked roads ensuring the shifting of the wounded people to hospitals and sending of relief items to the affected the areas.
