Michelle, Maryam pledge to promote education in Pakistan

The United States first Lady Michelle Obama and Maryam Nawaz have vowed to work for promotion of education in Pakistan.

The First Lady on Thursday announced a $70 million additional contribution to educate adolescent girls in Pakistan.

Addressing to an event “Let Girls Learn” at the White House they committed to closely work together to expand opportunities for the education of young girls in Pakistan.

Michelle Obama said with this funding more than a dozen new schools will be built along with rehabilitation of hundreds of others.

The funds will also be used to set up health screening for thousands of girls to ensure they are getting the needed medical care.

Maryam Nawaz while speaking on the occasion emphasised the firm commitment of the Government to implement the policies envisioned in the Vision 2025.

Highlighting the need of educational reforms in Pakistan, she said that the incumbent government attaches great importance to educational reforms.
