KARACHI: In order to make the Saddar area parking free, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched the free shuttle service from its parking plaza to Zainab Market and Saddar Electronics Market.
The shuttle service will be available for citizens who would park their vehicles in the parking plaza. This step has been taken on the directive of Administrator KMC Sajjad Hussain Abbasi so that traffic flow in Saddar area could be maintained.
Under the plan parking of vehicles will not be allowed on the routes of free shuttle service from Parking Plaza to Zainab Market via Empress Market and Singer Chowk on one side and from Parking Plaza to Electronic Market via Empress Market and Saddar GPO.
KMC has also made the parking plaza fully functional on Thursday and the people are offered with parking facility for vehicles on very low rates. The management of parking plaza has also been transferred from the charged parking department to the transport and communication department after which renovation work was also done with the provision of toilets, waiting room and space for prayers.
Meanwhile, the anti-encroachments department of KMC took action in Saddar and removed many iron counters and other hurdles from roadside and pavements.
