PM performs ground breaking of Gulpur power plant

Prime Minister of Pakistan Main Mohammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday performed the ground breaking of Gulpur power plant at Kotli in Azad Kashmir.

One hundred and two megawatt Gulpur is a run-of-the-river power project located on Poonch river.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressing to the ceremony said that Pakistan certainly faces acute power shortage for many years and witnessed power outages.

Such projects will help to add more power to national grid, he said.

At least $ 318 million are being on this project and it will be completed in four year, he told.

Korean investors will inject up to twenty five percent funds in the project while the remaining will be provided by different banks, he added.

Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister just mentioned that they faced power outages for up to 12 hours, PM Nawaz said.

People of AJK must be given whatever is due for them and to help stand them on their own feet.

Nawaz Sharif said government is setting up three LNG based power projects for which PMLN government is providing Rs.200 bn for two projects.
