KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has expressed utter disappointment over dismal situation of roads and streets of Karachi, despite issuance of hefty amounts, a few months ago.

In a statement on Thursday, the JI leader said it is a matter of grave concern that not even a single kilometer of smooth road stretch can be spotted in Karachi. He added that major roads in Karachi are also in a quite bad situation, let aside the streets and roads in poor neighborhoods.

Criticizing the government and the corrupt section of bureaucracy, he held both responsible for the deteriorating situations of roads in the city.

He recalled and highlighted that a few months ago million of rupees were issued to the administrations for patching and repairing of roads, however on ground the city is still presenting a miserable look.

The JI leader strictly lambasted the ruling regime and governmental high ups who are busy in plundering the tax payers money, instead of discharging their due responsibilities. He was of the view that such malpractices and dishonesty of those in the corridors of powers, in collaboration with those officers who have access to these corridors, are responsible for the inverse progress of the nation.

He said that as a result of the deteriorating conditions of roads, traffic jams and slow passage of vehicles have become a routine sight in the megalopolis. Relating the ongoing situations with the upcoming polls, he said that free and fair local government (LG) elections are the only way to resolve the miseries of Karachities. He was of the view that people are hopeless and fade up of the corrupt ruling regime. He pleaded of masses to cast their votes for honest people among themselves so as to get rid of the corrupt elements who compelled the millions of commuters  in the city to face a dreadful situation.
