ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday dissolved membership of Member of National Assembly (MNA) and federal railways’ minister, Khawaja Saad Rafique, via releasing formal notification besides announcing re-election within 60 days in NA-125 constituency.
ECP released notification for annulling membership of Khawaja Saad Rafique as member of the National Assembly following verdict of the election tribunal. ECP said that the institution was restricted to hold re-election within 60 days under article 224 of the Constitution.
The verdict could only be challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, whereas, ECP would continue their legal actions until issues of stay order by the apex court.
