Nation committed with Kashmir cause : Sirajul Haq

LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq has said that the Nation was committed to the Kashmir cause till the last drop of blood in his veins.

He was speaking at a consultative meeting held in Islamabad on Thursday in connection with the Kashmir issue.

Kashmiri Prime Minister Abdul Majid, former president Ghulam Qadir, former prime minister Sardar Attique Ahmen Khan and prominent Kashmiri leaders from both sides attended that meeting.

JI Chief said that Pakistani political leadership, the power origins and the masses were on the same page on Kashmir issue.

He continued that Kashmir issue could not be resolved without the participation of Kashmiri people. He said it was the responsibility of the United Nation and the world powers to make sincere efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue in the interest of world and regional peace.

Sirajul Haq supported Army Chief General Raheel Sharif’s statement on Kashmir issue and said the COAS had expressed the sentiments of the masses. He said it was high time that a firms and clear Kashmir policy was devised which remained unchanged with the change of governments. He said that the Kashmir policy being pursued by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also appreciable.

However, he deplored that the Pakistani embassies abroad were not active on the Kashmir issue. He said it was imperative to set up a Kashmir Desk at the Pakistani embassies all over the world.

He also agreed to the views of the Kashmiri leadership and Kashmir people that the Pakistani media was not giving due importance to the Kashmir issue.

The JI chief stressed upon the Pakistan government to convene a consultative meeting of the Kashmiri leadership from both sides of the LoC and fully patronize them.

Sirajul Haq paid rich tributes to ex- AK President and Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan for his valuable services for the cause of Kashmir.
