ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday said second terminal of LNG would resolve power crisis in Pakistan.
“Rs1 billion will be saved by running power houses by LNG. It is best alternative for gas shortage. Oil mafia do not want availability of cheap electricity in the country,” he said while talking to media.
He said six cargo ships of LNG had arrived in the country from Qatar. Two of them were bought by urea-manufacturing companies and four were taken by CNG sector.
“Our natural resources of gas are limited. We are negotiating to settle down LNG price. Hopefully, the price would be established the following month,” he said.
He said the LNG terminal was completed in record time. Three governments failed in 10 years to bring LNG in the country, while we had done the job in 20 months.
