LAHORE: Election Commission has accepted Ayaz Sadiqs nomination papers for by-election on constituency NA 122.
The returning officer after hearing the objections leveled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other parties on former National Assembly Speaker’s nomination paper gave his final judgment in favour of Ayaz Sadiq and accepted the papers.
In his shot order he said the evidence which was given by the parties is not enough to give the judgment in their favour.
It is pertinent to mention here that, PTI on Monday had challenged former National Assembly (NA) speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s eligibility in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
PTI’s candidate Shoaib Siddiqui challenged Sadiq’s eligibility as election candidate for NA-122 constituency in the ECP. The plea filed in the ECP states that Sadiq was fined at least Rs 25 lac however, he neither paid the fine nor got stay from the court.
Thus, the petition further states that Sadiq is not eligible under Article 62 and Article 63. The plea requests the ECP to declare Sadiq ineligible for the election.
