British star and world number 2, Andy Murray who has been known for his consistent performance but he was out classed by South African player in the US open fourth round match.

Former US Open winner eliminated from the tournament after losing to 29-year-old South African, Kevin Anderson who had competed in 26 major tournaments since 2008 and had never been to the quarterfinals.

Anderson upended the third-seeded Murray, 7-6 (5), 6-3, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (0), at Louis Armstrong Stadium in the biggest upset so far in the men’s draw.

Some may not have expected Murray to win his second Open. But a few could have foreseen that he would leave before the quarterfinals.

Anderson had lost five of his previous six matches against Murray, and all the signs on Monday were in Murray’s favor. But the 15th-seeded Anderson, a thoughtful and introspective player, updated the record book with the performance of his life, leaving Murray to wonder what went wrong.

“I wish I could play every tiebreaker like that,” Anderson said on the court.
