LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Sirajul Haq said that the western powers were more afraid of Hijab than the nuclear bomb and wanted to wipe out all signs of Islamic culture and civilization in order to check the advance of Islam.
While addressing to Hijab conference on Thursday, JI chief said that the colonial powers had launched a cultural attack on the Muslim Ummah and were targeting the Islamic signs and symbols.
Sirajul Haq said that the Holy Prophet (pbuh), Islamic moral values, Jehad, family system and Hijab were their special targets while extremism, fanaticism and terrorism were being linked with Islam.
Ban imposed on Hijab in France, Holland, and Denmark, he said and added that modesty was human nature and Islam attached great importance to it. Islam had declared Hijab as a means of protection for the women and had given them great respect in the society. He said that those who went astray from the Islamic teachings and norms would only earn disrespect and ignominy in the present world and in the hereafter.
He said that the women must get the right to vote. He said it was the government duty to provide the womenfolk all facilities to lead their lives in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Srajul Haq said that Hijab was not merely a piece of cloth to cover heads, it was part of a complete moral system that encompassed the whole life of the Muslim women. The Islamic system of life gave purity and modesty to the society, he added.
The JI chief said that Islam given the concept of women’s freedom fourteen hundred years ago. He said this was the standard of dignity and respect given by Allah Almighty and it was not the sign of any pressure or any compulsion. It also did not mean any sign of backwardness. On the other hand, Hijab was the right of the women and was a source of pleasure and protection for them.
He urged the media to project Hijab as a security and protection for the women folk and not a sign of any pressure. The media should highlight the culture of modesty and Hijab and the doors of educational institutions should not be closed to the women wearing Hijab.
The JI chief called for across the board accountability of the rulers both of past and the present.
