President Mamnoon dissolves PMDC

ISLAMABAD: An amendment ordinance issued by the Presidential secretariat has dissolved the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council’s existing cabinet.

The move came after a statement of the PMDC President Dr Masood Hameed Khan was issued to the media condemning the arrest of its former vice president Dr Asim Hussain.

Ministry of Health Regulations held that after the approval of new ordinance about the PMDC, “the old and controversial PMDC has been dissolved. Now as per the regulations a new council will be constituted within 120 days,”.

A new committee has been constituted to hold elections of the council and the Health Minister Saira Afzal Tarar along with the members of the administrative committee will address a press conference on Saturday (today).

Members of the new administrative committee include Maj Gen (Retd) Azhar Kiani, Prof Dr Abid Farooqi, Prof Dr Nadeem Rizvi, a member from the Law Ministry and a member from the Finance Ministry.
