International Orphans Day marked under AlKhidmat at Aghosh Home

Karachi: Khidmat Karachi organized the “International Orphans Day” at Aghosh Home, Gulshan-e-Maymar.

On this occasion, an iftar was arranged for 16 children. All the children residing at Aghosh Home participated in the iftar ceremony. Additionally, a signature campaign was organized at the Khidmat Head Office, where individuals from different walks of life wrote their opinions on a board and praised the process of caring for these courageous children.

The ceremony was chaired by the Chief Executive of Khidmat Karachi, Naveed Ali Baig. Executive Director of Khidmat, Rashid Qureshi, and Director of the Orphan Care Program, Yusuf Mohiuddin, also addressed the gathering. Manager of Aghosh Home, Mohammad Farooq, Coordinator Musab Bin Abdul Qadir, Najeeb Ayubi, and other officials were present at the event.

During the event, Chief Executive Naveed Ali Baig congratulated the children observing the fast and mentioned that “International Orphans Day” is celebrated on the 15th of Ramadan in Muslim countries around the world. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness in society that these children are our children, and their care and guardianship are our responsibility. Naveed Ali Baig also stated that Khidmat is nurturing thousands of children in its 22 Aghosh Homes across the country, with many more under construction. He noted that there are currently over 4.5 million orphans in the country and emphasized that society has a responsibility to support these children. He encouraged the children to strive to become the best Muslims, explaining that fasting helps instill patience and selflessness.

Executive Director of Khidmat Karachi, Rashid Qureshi, said that the process of training begins from childhood. Fasting is a passion and enthusiasm children develop from an early age, and it plays a crucial role in their upbringing. He further stated that fasting teaches patience and endurance. Khidmat is currently caring for over 30,000 orphans across the country, with 2,400 of these children being supported in Karachi. The children in these Aghosh Homes are provided with high-quality residential, educational, and recreational facilities. He added that these children represent the bright future of the nation and that society must take responsibility for their guardianship, as caring for orphans is a Sunnah of the Prophet.

Yusuf Mohiuddin mentioned that these children are the bright future of the country, and by fasting, they have proven that they wish to develop patience and endurance. He urged the children to study and progress, as their future would be shaped by their education.
