The federal government has decided to significantly reduce the price of electricity, under which a reduction of Rs 2 per unit is expected for the second quarter of the financial year 2024-25.
Power distribution companies have also submitted adjustment requests to Nepra.
If approved, electricity prices are expected to come down from March 2025, which will provide more than 52 billion rupees relief to the people.
Nepra will hold a public hearing on the applications on February 12, 2025. The reduction will affect electricity rates in the months of March, April and May.
Quarterly adjustment will also be applicable to K Electric customers while no relief will be given to Lifeline customers.
