KARACHI: A delegation of teachers appointed in 2012 but are deprived of their salaries, urged Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leadership to play their role in resolving the issue of their salaries so as they can get their livelihood.
The delegation met the JI Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman at the JI headquarters and sought the support of JI against the injustice subjected to the teachers.
The delegation members Asif Zia, Tahir Janbaz and others briefed the JI leader about the issue and said that thousands of teachers have been deprived of their salaries due to internal tussles among top officials of the education department as well as within the ruling party of PPP.
They said that the Sindh Education department appointed thousands of teachers as well as non teaching staff in the year 2012 after fulfilling the due process. Subsequently the then newly appointed staff started to perform their duties but later their appoint was make controversial and put in limbo, depriving them of their due salaries.
The delegation members further said that the department not only utilize the services of the staff within the schools but also asked them to render their services for holding elections and other issues, including verification of voters’ lists but still remained reluctant to release their salaries.
They said that in current scenario, PPP senior leader and minister education Nisar Khuhro constituted a committee, which declared the appoint of 3869 teaches and 2869 other staffers ranging from grade 1 to 4 after thorough scrutiny but still the affected employees are deprived of their salaries.
JI Karachi leader Engr. Naeem said that it was a criminal negligence on the part of the Sindh government as the issue is yet to be resolved after passage of three long years.
He assured the delegation that JI would support them for their legitimate demands. He added that PPP claims to be a party of poor and chants the slogan of ‘Roti Kapra and Maka,’ while on other hand, the PPP leadership practically follows all anti-poor policies. The JI leader demanded of the Sindh government to resolve the issue immediately.
